چکیده
Aeolian process leads to the transportation and accumulation of sand particles that result in dune landforms. The structure shape dunes are driven by parameters interacting wind force material composition within. Cross-section profiles over will essay geomorphological through which steady state rate transport can be computed. National Aeronautics Space Administration’s novel satellite namely Ice, Cloud land Elevation Satellite-2 (ICESat-2) hosts a solo sensor Advanced Topographic Laser Altimeter System (ATLAS) is photon counting instrument measures round-trip time light pulse being emitted reflected back from surface determines true height topographic feature on Earth. In this article, cross-section generated beams ICESat-2 ground-tracks acquired Thar Desert region were analysed for detecting parameters. Observations have resulted giving unprecedented details about shapes morphological settings various types like barchanoids, parabolic, longitudinal, transverse dunes. Morphological length stoss slope, crest height, slip face details, inter-arms spacing, trailing arms, depositional lobes, sinuosity recurring lines retrieved with ease Level-2A data product ATL03 ICESat-2/ATLAS.

Booming Sand Dunes
Booming” sand dunes have a remarkable capacity to produce sounds that are comparable with those from a stringed instrument. This phenomenon, in which sound is generated after an avalanching of sand along the slip face of a dune, has been known for centuries and occurs in at least 40 sites around the world. A spectral analysis of the sound shows a dominant frequency between 70 and 110 Hz, as wel...
متن کاملGreat Sand Dunes
Endemic species are those that exist at only one location or area on Earth. They tend to be more numerous in habitats that are distinctly different from the surrounding areas. The Great Sand Dunes harbor at least seven endemic species of insects. Many of the insects here are ‘sand obligates’, meaning that they are adapted uniquely for sandy habitats. Currently, just over 1,000 different kinds o...
متن کاملMinimal model for sand dunes.
We propose a minimal model for aeolian sand dunes. It combines an analytical description of the turbulent wind velocity field above the dune with a continuum saltation model that allows for saturation transients in the sand flux. The model provides a qualitative understanding of important features of real dunes, such as their longitudinal shape and aspect ratio, the formation of a slip face, th...
متن کاملBooming sand dunes: field measurements
Booming dunes” are large desert sand dunes that make a loud droning or humming noise during an avalanching of sand. The phenomenon has been observed for censturies, yet it remains largely unexplained. This note demonstrates that the booming frequency does not scale with the size of the particle or with the shearing speed of the avalanching sand. Instead, the dune may act as a waveguide with a f...
متن کاملSedimentary structure of large sand dunes: examples from Dumont and Eureka dunes, California
S U M M A R Y The current research presents ground penetrating radar images up to 30m in depth of two large desert dunes in California, USA— a barchanoid ridge in the Dumont field and a linear dune in the Eureka expanse. The radar images show a complicated structure of internal layering with ascending cross-strata, cross-bedding and bounding surfaces cutting through layers. Additional research ...
